Our History 1993-2021

1993-1997
In the fall of 1993, a cheer mom, Kathy LeFrois, called together some football coaches and cheer moms and held the first meeting to discuss the start up of a new football and cheerleading organization to support the growing need of a growing town.  That night, the seed was planted and the Webster Junior Warriors were born. Here is a brief history of events and milestones in our organization.

  • December, 1993: first Board of Directors elected
  • February, 1994: chartered with the Vince Lombardi Youth Football League
  • March, 1994: held first open registration; 153 participants registered for the 1994 season
  • April, 1994: Webster Jr. Warriors Football and Cheerleading incorporates as a Not For Profit organization
  • August 1, 1994: Webster Jr. Warriors held their first practice
  • September, 1994: Webster Jr. Warriors played their first game away versus the Newark Colts
  • January, 1995: because original member of the Webster Youth Sports Council, a cooperative effort with Webster Parkes and Recreation and Webster Schools to share and schedule facilities for a growing town and youth sports programs
  • 1996: Flag Football program founded, the first in Monroe County. Fielded 28 flag football players
  • 1997: help found the Finger Lakes Youth Football Cheer League
  • 1997-2001: WJW President and Cheer Director were the FLYFCL President and Director; board members helped expand the league from 10 teams in 1997 to 16 teams in 2001. Moved first FLYFCL Cheer competition to Blue Cross Arena; held first FLYFCL Bowl Game
  • 1997: invited to be a member of the Webster Sports Complex and its development along with Webster Youth Hockey and the Webster Soccer Association

 2000 - 2010

  •  2001: program waiting list is 45 football players and 45 cheerleaders. Expansion program planned to field two teams under the WJW, Inc umbrella. The WJW South (enrolling south Webster) and the WJW North (enrolling north Webster) based on the newly formed WCSD plan to have two high schools.
  • 2002: launch the two-team organization. All football and cheer rosters are filled and 72 flag football players are fielded. 389 total participants registered.
  • August, 2002: install foal posts and score board at Boulter Field and open the site for play. Opening day at home, WJW North meets WJW South in competition.
  • 2002: state grant awarded to the Webster Sports Complex for capital improvement at Boulter Field
  • 2003: join American Youth Football League. WJW South becomes Webster Junior Warriors (WJW); WJW North becomes Webster Junior Titans (WJT)
  • 2002: construction is in process to build a press box and building for storage, concessions, rest rooms on side at Boulter Field.
  • 2006: innovation of "Senior Bowl" Flag Football graduation game
  • 2009: announcer booth renovation, first PPK (Punt, Pass, Kick picnic), Memorial Garden moved and Noah added
  • 2010: WJW and WJT expand to three squads - White Lightening, Blue Thunder & Gold Storm. Webster's premier youth football & cheer organization delivers character building experience to record levels of community kids

2021

  • WJW-WJT institutes new Advanced Flag Football League for Grades 3-6
